9 Suns Slot Bonuses and Features
9 Suns Bonus. This is the main bonus of the game, where you’re goal is to help Hou Yi, a famous archer, shoot down 9 Suns to save the world. It’s triggered by 3 or more scattered 9 Suns symbols, which appear only on reels 2, 3 and 4. Just 3 of these will grant 1 + Bonus, 4 will trigger 5 + bonus, while 5 will trigger 50 + bonus. All scatter pays are multiplied by the total bet. The bonus is split into 2 parts, the Sun Selection Bonus and Free Spins Bonus.
Sun Selection Bonus. The archer, Hou Yi, will appear looking at the sky full of 10 Suns. You must select 3 Suns, which you can do either by touching them or selecting them using the mechanical buttons. After each selection, the archer will fire an arrow at the Sun, causing it to explode. You’ll then be presented with a reward of either a Wild symbol or 1, 2 or 3 Free Spins. As a result of the Sun you chose exploding, up to 2 more Suns may also explode providing you with additional rewards. As such, it’s possible that the archer may in fact cause all 9 Suns to explode, leaving just 1 in the sky, successfully completing his quest and providing you with a bonus credit reward. A maximum of 11 free spins can be awarded during this feature, and a maximum of 3 Wild symbols in different groups. If you are unsuccessful in shooting down all 9 Suns, then once all 3 arrows have been fired, you will receive your rewards and move on to the Free Spins Bonus.
Free Spins Bonus. All the free spins and wild symbols claimed from the 1st part of the bonus will apply to the Free Spins Bonus. Each wild symbol of the same kind as that symbol will pay double that pay, while other wild symbols are treated as normal substitutes. During this bonus, 3 or more scattered 9 Suns symbols will trigger the same number of free spins as were awarded during the first part of the Sun Selection Bonus, but is not replayed itself. If your mission was accomplished, then you will be awarded 20, 50 100 or 200 times bet. The Wild symbols can be any of the base symbols, but do not substitute for the 9 Suns symbol. Conclusion
9 Suns slot, while now a little bit old, is still very entertaining and I like how things are kept simple. There is just one bonus, split into two parts, which can offer some pretty big rewards and is fun to play. The slot also has a purpose to it, a goal which you are helping to achieve and I feel like this is often lacking from many slots nowadays. Overall then, this is a great slot aimed mostly at low rollers, although the rewards could be appealing to some higher rollers, and I think more simple slots like these with a good base story should be released.
